Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Sirajul Haq has said that the assemblies have turned into horse-trading centers where loyalties of the elected representatives are being purchased with different tactics, shattering public confidence on democracy.

Addressing a public gathering on Friday, Sirajul Haq said the situation had reached to the point that a person having wealth could buy the entire parliament.

The ruling parties exposed once again and they had been creating embarrassment for Pakistan in all over the world, he said. On one side, he said, masses were starving to death due to inflation and poverty while on the other side rulers were constantly fighting for protection of self-interest.

In Punjab Assembly, Sirajul Haq said, the PTI chose the candidate for Chief Minister office who was not clean in the eyes of the party chairman in past. The PDM and the PPP, on the other side, were not ready to separate from power despite losing majority in the provincial assembly, he added. It seemed, he said, both sides crossed all limits to attain the power.

The JI chief said Pakistan could not go ahead without establishing rule of law and sustainable and clean democratic process. He said the feudal lords and corrupt imperialists won the election on the basis of wealth and power. This drama must end now, he said, adding the country and public could no longer afford the dirty practices.

He reiterated concerns over the decision of Election Commission of Pakistan to suspend the by-election in Sindh. He said the people of Karachi and the entire province had held protest demonstration in favor of elections as per schedule.

The JI chief said Pakistan needed Islamic system and interest-free economy. The JI was struggling to transform the country into Islamic welfare state. He appealed the people to choose the JI over other tested parties in the elections.

A large number of local leaders and workers of the PTI and the PPP joined the JI on occasion. Sirajul Haq congratulated the people on joining the ranks of the JI and advised them to work hard for transforming Pakistan into welfare Islamic state.
