Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan on Thursday announced to send a reference, demanding the resignation of President Dr. Arif Alvi and said that the President, ex-prime minister Imran Khan and former deputy speaker Qasim Khan Suri committed fraud with the Constitution of the country. He said that the person sitting at the president house should resign after the verdict of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad, Rana Sanaullah Khan said that the decision of the Supreme Court of Pakistan raised the head of the Constitution, adding that the Constitution of Pakistan is the sacred trust of the people. He said there is no greater crime than this, adding that its punishment is also mentioned in Articles 5 and 6.
The Federal Interior Minister said that the funeral of Imran Khan’s politics is over, adding that Imran Khan violated the constitution to save power. He said that it has been proved through Supreme Court of Pakistan’s verdict that the person named Imran Khan Niazi could go at any cheap level and could also harm the national interest, adding that Imran Khan put the national interest at stake to save his political interests and personal rule. He said that Imran Khan committed violation of the constitution and committed fraud with the constitution, adding that in present of supremacy of the constitution there is no room for such ineligible and incompetent gangs to stay in politics or do politics. Interior Minister said that on the violation of the constitution, the federal government can send reference so the work on it has been started.
He said, “We will not keep the option of fraud and violation of the constitution open”. Rana Sanaullah went on to say that the work has started regarding sending references. Rana Sanaullah said that still Imran Khan and others are MNAs and are receiving salaries and occupying the vehicles and houses at Parliament Lodges. He said that still these people are on National Assembly roll.
Rana Sanaullah said the order of the Supreme Court will be carried out, adding that the reference is made after the decision. He said Speaker National Assembly should send the reference to the Election Commission of Pakistan fore their disqualification, adding that the Election Commission should de-seat them and declare them ineligible.
Rana Sanaullah said the President and former prime minister, speaker, and deputy speaker committed fraud with the Constitution of the country, adding that the decision of the Supreme Court is final, it is a commendable decision, punishment for breaking the Constitution. Rana Sanaullah said that it is appreciable judgment of the Supreme Court, adding that the judgment could be criticized while remaining under the parameters of respect. Interior Minister said, “I am ready to arrest Imran Khan on the punishment of the violation of the constitution”.
He said that if the cabinet allows him to file a case, the government will arrest him. Now, after the verdict, a major crime has been committed, adding that there will be a reference or arrest. He said the government intended to arrest Sheikh Rashid during the long march, but it did not find him (Sheikh Rashid) despite all the efforts.
Rana Sanaullah said that the country has to abide by the constitution, what the Supreme Court has said is true, and what Fawad Chaudhry is saying is not true.
Interior Minister said that Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif’s sentence is wrong and baseless, he is innocent and excess has been committed with him, adding that the Punjab government had sent Nawaz Sharif out of country for treatment after suspending his sentence. He said that later on Punjab government had withdrawn the decision of sending Nawaz Sharif abroad on pretext of not sending the medical report by him, adding that in his view the withdrawal decisions should be taken back and suspension of Nawaz Sharif’s punishment should be restored and he should returned back and should plead his appeals and I am very hopeful that Nawaz Sharif will be acquitted in the appeals because the decisions against him is baseless.
He said that if the country is to be run under the constitution and law then action has to be taken, adding the matter will be discussed in the cabinet meeting today (Friday). Interior Minister went on to say that in his personal opinion, reference should be sent and action should be taken against president, former prime minister, former deputy speaker national assembly and former law minister Fawad Chaudhry after this decision. He said: “The Speaker can send an immediate reference against them. Our coalition government is the one that makes decisions through consultation.”
Rana Sanaullah replied regarding his case that Shehryar Afridi had taken a wrong step, the real culprits from PTI and government side were Imran Khan and Shahzad Akbar.
Rana Sanaullah said that we are front runners and protectors of the freedom of expression as we have rendered sacrifices for this cause, adding that the freedom of expression is moving forward at every passing moment. The Federal Minister said that there was a time when people used to disappear but and now there is a time when people like Matiullah Jan are abducted and recovered after 15 minutes or half an hour. Replying a question, Rana Sanaullah Khan in a happy mood said Matiaullah Jan should give in written who are accused in his abduction case he will arrest them.
He said that the attacker of Absar Alam was caught from Sheikhupura, adding that the arrested person himself had said that he had attacked Absar Alam. The person who was arrested was the attacker and not the real accused. He said that the handler of the attacker is present in Germany, adding that the Interpol will be requested to apprehend the accused present in Germany.
Replying a question, Rana Sanaullah Khan said that former president general (retd) Parvez Musharraf is no more and he is only seeking permission for burial in Pakistan.
