Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Sirajul Haq has said the country’s politics has entered into closed alley, suggesting the government and opposition sides to review their strategies to avoid further clash which is otherwise posing serious threat to democracy.

The political parties, Sirjaul Haq said in a statement issued from Mansoorah on Friday, must adopt the political, democratic and constitutional ways to end the prevailing unrest. He warned the political forces that their attitude will push the country towards serious crises. The situation, he feared, could also lead to the wrapping up the already weak and fragile democracy. The two sides, he said, should adopt the way of dialogue to end the deadlock. He said the attack on the residences of politicians and government houses was highly irresponsible attitude and no democratic and political culture allowed such foolishness. The country, Sirajul Haq said, had become a laughing stock in the world due to the political circus in Islamabad. The nation, he said, had also been watching the circus for weeks. It was visibly a clash for interests among the political parties who ruled over country for decades but failed to deliver, he regretted.

The JI chief particularly criticized the ruling party behavior, saying the government instead of targeting opposition should tell the people its performance of over four years. He targeted the turncoat culture, held the absence of ideological politics responsible for it. He said the lotacracy and horse-trading had become a common practice in the country for decades and three ruling parties adopted it over years.

Sirajul Haq said the JI had decided to stay away from the politics of interests and was struggling for the right of the people as no other party was bothering about the poor masses. He reiterated the demand for fresh elections in the country, saying the people were the custodians and they should be allowed to elect their representative through transparent polls. He said there was a dire need to get rid of the status quo parties and corrupt system to put the county on track.
